Sub-Vocal (Never Been)

Never been very vocal.
Preferring to exist in the margin-
(those pencilled-in notes; explaining the individual view of Fact.)
Soft parentheticals, gently reminding us who we are,
and who we could be.

Dearest All,
Keep your eyes peeled for a grand (hopefully) reprise of the cityscape background.
All in good time.

And, Just in case,
Here is another direction that this drawing took, though earlier.

Well, that's all for now, Dearest All,
I hope you are all well, and enjoying the Easter season...

With Warmest Regards,
eric

  1. Wow, these are just too great! I thought the first one was really cool but then I saw the second one, which is even cooler. So weird and awesome, with a seamless mixture of styles. Love the colors.

    1. So good to hear! I was unconvinced of either of these, to be honest. (I've been focussing a bit more on color lately- those letters last month were getting to be rather bleak.)

Thanks for your comments, Cindy! y'keep me going.

  2. The top one is a bit scary, but I do like the both of them very much! I like the color scheme you used, and the background too. Hey and thanks for your visit to my blog, I appreciate that!

  3. I am struck with how your drawings of females often depict the many forms of oppression experienced by our gender... in very subtle ways, of course.

    1. I'd say that most all of the figures that appear in my work be they female, male, or somewhere in between, are oppressed in some way. But along with oppression, there's often resignation (or complacency), and there is fragility (along with the strength that comes with fragility), and there is incompletion of self (and wholeness of identity) and sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, there is hope. (and yes, all these things subtly, of course.)

(and really, there always, always, always hope.)

For whatever reason, I am drawn to illustrate the negative example- curious, because I am a believer in the Goodness of people. If, at any point, any of these pictures have made you stop and wonder (about anything!,) then I am a happy cat!

Also, thanks for your regular commentary, md. It means heaps!
